Since the PC and XT models did not come with a battery backed BIOS and system clock, you are stuck with that annoying Jan 1, 1980 date every time you turn off your machine. Of course with an add-on card that has a system clock on it you can use the following drivers to get the system to recognize the existence of the clock. Mine keeps perfect time after replacing the old battery that was in it.

In my experience so far with my XT, the hard drive has proven to be the most annoying, trouble prone and unreliable item I have had to work with. The first drive I had was a junker, and this one would be junked by anyone who had another drive to fall back on. The more moden IDE drives are definitely worlds ahead of the MFM ones. Whereas floppy drives have changed little in technology and therefore newer ones will work just fine in an older pc, newer hard drives are just about impossible to implement into an older system because of changes in technology.

Well, if anyone knows where I can get a decent MFM hard drive let me know. I would prefer a ST-225 because they are quite common and I have a HDD controller for one. A ST-241 would be good also but any working drive would be accepted by me at this time. Also, I need a 3.5" 720k Floppy drive so if anyone out there has either of these items for a decent price, please get in touch with me because I will be VERY interested.
